The recent rain and more in the forecast has central New York under a Flash Flood Watch according to the National Weather Service.

The Flash Flood Watch is in effect until this 4 this afternoon for the following counties:

Chemung, Cortland, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Schuyler, Seneca, Southern Cayuga, Steuben, Tompkins and Yates counties.

Showers will be heavy at times and will continue into this afternoon. An inch of rain has already fallen with another 1 to 2 inches possible. The heaviest rain could produce 1 to 2 inches over a short time period, resulting in localized flash flooding.
