Four More Chevy Court Acts Coming To The Great New York State Fair
|
We’re expecting a call Monday from Dan O’Hara of the Great New York State Fair who’ll announce four more acts that will perform during this year’s Chevy Court concert series including pop, rock and country artists. Two different acts will perform each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. All shows at Chevy Court are FREE with Fair admission.
The lineup includes award-winning singer, songwriter and record producer, Bruno Mars, who will perform Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 8 p.m. His debut CD “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum. Among the hit singles off that album are “Just the Way You Are,” “Grenade,” and “The Lazy Song.
Curtis Stone, an Australian-born celebrity chef, author and television personality, will demonstrate his talents on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 2 p.m. A student of cooking since the age of five when he worked alongside his grandmother in the kitchen, Stone is a designer of kitchen utensils and accessories, a noted author of a line of cookbooks and the current host of “Top Chef Masters” on Bravo TV. He also appeared as an investor and judge on the NBC show “America’s Next Great Restaurant” earlier this year.
Steel Magnolia, a country music duo that won season two of the CMT talent show “Can You Duet,” will perform Thursday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. Only two years after winning the show, Steel Magnolia has already been nominated for numerous country music awards including Top Vocal Duo of the Year by the Academy of Country Music Awards and Duo Video of the Year by the CMT Music Awards for the song “Last Night Again.” The duo’s hit songs include “Keep On Lovin’ You,” “Just By Being You (Halo and Wings)” and “Last Night Again.”
The announced performers are part of a revamped Chevy Court format introduced in 2009 that will bring 24 national acts to the Chevy Court stage instead of the traditional 12. These changes have set records for attendance at Chevy Court concerts and enhanced the overall entertainment options for Fairgoers. Last year’s Chevy Court performance by Lady Antebellum was attended by an estimated 30,000 people.
Acts that were previously announced for Chevy Court include rock and pop band Allstar Weekend performing at 2 p.m. Aug. 28; jazz and swing band the Glenn Miller Orchestra performing at 2 p.m. Aug. 29; American rock band REO Speedwagon performing at 8 p.m. Aug. 29; “Jersey Boys” quartet The Midtown Men performing at 2 p.m. on Aug. 30; Nickelodeon pop quartet Big Time Rush performing at 8 p.m. Sept. 1; R&B singer Charlie Wilson performing at 8 p.m. on Sept. 2; and Irish pop rockers The Script performing at 8 p.m. on Sept. 3.
All shows at Chevy Court are free with Fair admission. More Chevy Court concerts will be announced soon. The 2011 Fair will run from Aug. 25 to Sept. 5.
