Fourth Of July Fireworks Displays In The Utica Area-Our Top Five

Can you believe we're already talking about the Fourth of July?  Picnics, parades, grilling hotdogs and hamburgers, flags and of course all the fireworks displays. To help plan your Independence Day celebrations, we' ve come up with our list of the five best spots in Central New York to catch the fireworks.

Because we love fireworks so much no matter who is lighting them off, these are not in any particular order.

Proctor Park-Utica

 

 
It'll be the third year in a row that Utica's fireworks display will be held at Proctor Park instead of the Memorial Parkway. Drive down to the park or hop on a shuttle to check out Utica's fireworks. As much as we liked watching the fireworks at the Parkway, it could get a little crowded, which is why we like all the space available at Proctor Park. We always get a charge out of Utica's grand finale, so make sure you wait for it.

Old Forge

 

 
Summer just isn't summer in CNY unless you head up to the Adirondacks. What better place to watch the Fourth of July fireworks than Old Forge. Their display on the Old Forge lakefront is spectacular and we recommend you get their early for the 7pm live music, which is followed by the fireworks at dusk. What a great setting for your Fourth of July celebration. If you can, spend the day at Old Forge before the fireworks. You can walk around and visist all the neat little shops, try some yummy icecream at The Muffin Patch, and don't miss the Old Forge Hardware store. It truly is one of a kind.

Clinton High School


 

 

Clinton is fun to visit anytime with its beautiful and historic homes and buildings, and is also one of our picks for the Fourth of July fireworks. Park in town and take a short walk up to the high school to watch some amazing fireworks. Don't forget to bring your favorite lawn chair.

Sylvan Beach

 

 
It's worth the 45 minute drive from Utica to see their brilliant fireworks display. We love hanging out by the water and their Independence Day fireworks happen on the Oneida lakefront after dark. Even better, hang out at the beach beforehand, or take the kids to the amusement park and for a whirl on the carousel. Plus, you won't be hungry with all the delicious restaurants too. It's called an “aerial extravaganza” at Sylvan Beach for a reason! It never fails to please.

Fort Stanwix in Rome

 

 
Celebrate the Fourth of July where our forefathers made their heroic stand at Fort Stanwix. Yes, there are other places in Rome to see the fireworks, but we like the combination of history and celebrating our nation's independence at such a historic site. Plus, it's fun to be there for the festival. Plenty of vendors and music too and you'll see all the brilliance of the fireworks from the Fort.
