It's been cold the past couple nights, but this one could be the coldest yet this season in the North Country.

The National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory for parts of Lewis County and Northern Herkimer County. The advisory is in effect from midnight tonight (9/1/17) through 8am Saturday morning (9/2/17) and could mean temperatures in the low 30's in the Southern Adirondacks.

Lowville and Old Forge are directly in the alert area. The advisory warns that outdoor plants should be covered or brought inside if possible. These low temperatures may also affect farms in the area.

The sad part is it's just Labor Day Weekend. How does the future look for Old Forge? According to the National Weather Service, based on past climatological data there is a 49% chance that average temperatures over the next 3 months will be above normal. There is also a 19% chance it will be below normal. Similarly, in Utica, there is a 51% chance that averages will be above normal.
