Google has a long history of coming up with novel new services on April Fools Day (remember the 8-bit Google Map?).  This time around, you can see the world as a swashbuckling pirate with the Treasure Map version of Google Maps.

Explore vast uncharted wildernesses like Utica, Rome and Syracuse - except you won't need to worry about scurvy.

Zoom in for Street View and you'll see the world in sepia through a spyglass. (By the way, that's me trailing the Google Streetview car on Washington Street in Utica when it passed through the area in 2011.)
