Wedding planning takes a lot of time, effort, and money; so what do you do when the would-be-groom gets cold feet and backs out of the ceremony?  Why not turn a potentially negative situation something positive.

A family in Sacramento planned a wedding reception for their daughter that cost them about $35000. Unfortunately, the husband-to-be chickened out a few days prior to the big day. What happened next was truly remarkable;  According to ABC 7:

Instead of letting the evening go to waste, the Duanes decided to go ahead with the reception. They ditched the original guest list and invited residents from a homeless shelter. Kari Duane, the would-be-bride's mother, said, "I feel a lot of heartache and heartbreak for her, but I will take away something good from this, I will."

The reception attendees got to enjoy some delicious food at one of Sacramento's finest hotels. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for many of them and guests dined on salmon, salad, cauliflower, and tri-tip beef.

The bride- to- be wasn't feeling up for attending the reception. However, she will be taking her non-refundable honeymoon trip to Belize later this year...with her mom.
