We celebrated National Beer Day was a couple of days ago but would this day even exist if it weren't for F.X. Matt?

Millions of Americans said their cheer for beer on April 7th. They are very thankful and grateful that the frothy, hoppy, tasty, carbonated beverage actually exists. Two years ago  Matt Brewing Company (Saranac) celebrated its 125th Anniversary, but you may be wondering how that is even possible since Prohibition started in 1920.

Prohibition was a period of nearly fourteen years of U.S. history in which the manufacture, sale, and transportation of liquor was made illegal. It led to the first and only time an Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was repealed. (History.Com)

F.X. Matt  Brewing remained open and operational during Prohibition by selling soft drinks like malt tonic, and my personal favorite, their signature root beer. Franklin Roosevelt repealed the law on April 7th 1933, and that's precisely when F.X. Matt's (Saranac) Brewery started selling beer again!

F.X. Matt Brewing got the first permit, nationwide, to start selling beer---within an hour and a half of the 18th Amendment repeal. (CNYCENTRAL.COM)

That's a pretty incredible turnover time don't you think?! What's your favorite Saranac beverage? Black Cherry Cream, Ginger Beer, Shirley Temple, Root Beer, or Orange Cream? Which one is your beer of choice? Do you prefer the Legacy IPA, Adirondack Lager, or Black Forrest?
