Update: Levee Compromised in Herkimer

On Monday night (July 1, 2013) the levee that holds back Bellinger Brook in the village of Herkimer had been compromised and was in danger of failing.

But, fortunately the levee did not fail, although it was heavily damaged, according to Herkimer County Chairman Vincent Bono.

Joining WIBX First News with Keeler in the Morning, Bono said the levee did experience quite a bit of water erosion, but is held up and waters receded, he said.
