The only person more anxious than the fans for new Hilary Duff music is Hilary herself. Based on the preview of her new song ‘Chasing the Sun,’ we don’t blame her for her excitement!

The 26-year-old singer posted a clip of her new single on Instagram, giving fans a taste of new Hilary music for the first time in seven years. In the vid — captioned “how I started my morning….” — the blonde is seen somersaulting across and dancing on top of a bed with her song playing in the background. She pops up on screen, grinning from ear to ear, with the promise, “Here it comes!”

The few seconds she teases sounds like a light, summery tune with a peppy drum loop; a fittingly upbeat sound for the song title. Though it’s still pure pop, the teaser does sound a little bit more mature and relaxed than her last album, which leaned towards synthy dance music. It's not too surprising it has more of an acoustic singer-songwriter vibe, since it was co-written by Ed Sheeran!

She turned to Twitter to express her gratitude towards her fans for their support and reassurance that they’ve got her back on her long-awaited return to music.

Hilary also shared a video to thank her fans for all of the sweet messages from around the world. After such a long break, it’s probably pretty nice for her to experience such a huge outpour of love from her dedicated fans.

‘Chasing the Sun’ is now available for preorder and will drop on Tuesday, July 29.
