And no, we're not talking about New York City. You don't have to leave Central New York to experience a weekend filled with holiday fun, the whole family will enjoy.

Coming up Saturday, December 16 and Sunday, December 17, is "Holidays in the City" in downtown Syracuse. This weekend is packed (and we really do mean PACKED), with everything your family will love to make the holidays special. From outdoor skating, to hanging out with Santa Claus, to shopping, and more, you'll definitely want to make time for this unique holiday event.

We took a look at their event schedule at HolidaysInSyr.com, and found a few activities we think you and your family will really enjoy:

- Gingerbread Exhibit at the Erie Canal Museum
- Ice skating at Clinton Square
- Meet Santa's reindeer at Hanover Square (and get your picture taken in Santa's sleigh)
- Polar Express Pajama Party at the MOST Museum
- Free holiday movie at the Landmark Theatre

There are also activities for the adults like the "Santa-Palooza Bar Crawl." And the weekend is filled with live music performances, shopping, and even a free holiday trolley that will take you all around the area.

The holidays can be a very busy, hectic and stressful time of the year. Take a little break from the running around, and enjoy the little things the holiday season has to offer. Spend some quality time with the family taking in the sights, enjoying hot cocoa and cookies, and just being together. That's what this time of the year is all about, right?
