Our first snow of the season could be substantial, as that massive storms moves into the northeast.  According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, which generates forecast for Utica, Rome and the Mohawk Valley.

That same storm system has caused near blizzard conditions in the Rockies and upper Midwest.  It's now headed across the Great Lakes and we'll begin to feel it's effects by early Sunday.

As the temperature drops and the wind kicks-up, rain will mix with snow overnight.  We can then expect snow showers throughout the day Sunday with winds gusting to near 30 miles per hour.  It will remain windy through Monday evening.

As far as accumulation, it's predicted that the Mohawk Valley could see an inch overnight, and another 2 inches by late afternoon on Sunday.  As the snow showers continue, the weather service says we can expect another 2 inches on Sunday night.  More snow showers on Monday could bring another couple of inches.  Adding it up, a total of 7 inches of snow could fall in our area by Monday night.

Some area of Oneida County outside of the Mohawk Valley could see up to a foot of snow thanks to the lake effect.
