Reports continue to warn us about the obesity epidemic in America and many of those reports are about our unhealthy kids. While it might seem impossible to turn this thing around, there are just a few simple things that need to be changed in order for the health of families all across the country to improve.

Here’s what needs to change according to Time:

  • Eat Less Junk Food- According to a survey, 62 percent of parents give their children junk food one to four days per week and 40 percent of the total calories consumed by 2- to 18-year-olds are "empty."
  • Watch Less TV- Nearly half of all parents let their kids watch more than two hours of TV each day. That's a lot of time just sitting around.
  • Eat More Fruits and Veggies- The federal government recommends that everyone consume at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day. Obviously, very few families follow through on this guideline day in and day out.
  • More Family Activities- An easy way to double quality family time and to get kids moving their bodies is to just turn off the TV and go for a walk each evening. Could it be any simpler?

What else should change?
