Valentine's Day comes with a lot of pressure and expectations. All the focus on flowers and dinner and chocolates and champagne and greeting cards. What to buy as a gift? How to react when you receive a gift?

Why not relieve a little of the inherent pressure of Valentine's Day by observing a DIFFERENT holiday and combining the two? Because Valentine's Day gets so much attention, folks might not realize there IS another holiday.

February 14th is also National Ferris Wheel Day. It's a day to honor the birth of George Washington Gale Ferris, who sketched out his vision of the first Ferris Wheel on a napkin at dinner one night. The rest is history.

There are lots of great Ferris Wheels around New York State, including the planned New York Wheel on Staten Island, which, when completed would be one of the world's largest.
