In the most perfect thing since Gerard Butler's body in '300,' Sir Ian McKellen is officiating Sir Patrick Stewart's wedding.

Be still our beating hearts because oh my God we can't even.

In an interview on the Jonathan Ross Show (via Pink News), McKellen explained that he's not sure whether he's legally able to officiate, but he's doing it anyway because he's Sir Ian McKellen and he's Sir Patrick Stewart, and they do what they want.

“I don’t know, but in Massachusetts, in the middle of America somewhere, you get a friend along, and I read out the words, and Sunny [Ozell] and Patrick will then be married," he chuckled.

“I've done it once before with two guys having a civil partnership. I was crying my eyes out.”

One problem he's having? What to wear when reading the rites of his 'X-Men' co-star.

“What do you wear when you officiate at a wedding?” McKellen pondered. At the aforementioned civil partnership, McKellen explained, “[I wore] a white gown which I bought in India."

Thankfully, he knows that may not be protocol here: "You mustn't upstage the bride!”

Or the once-sexiest man alive. But the man can't help it if he did.
