Ilion’s Mark Luke Hanshaw is the Kinney Kid of The Month

A 13-year-old boy from Ilion goes out of his way to be a kind and compassionate person, and that's earned him a spot as October's Kinney Kid of The Month.

Mark Luke Hanshaw is 13 years old. He's a great student, but that's not what inspired his Mom, Pennylynn to nominate him as the Kid of The Month. Here's what Pennylynn had to say about Mark:

Mark is amazingly awesome because he is kind, compassionate, funny and smart...he is an A student, a year ahead in learning Chinese language, has volunteered for various organizations since he was 2yrs old and always looks for opportunities to help others whether its holding a door open, picking up something someone dropped or simply smiling saying please and thank you. Additionally, he has helped me at home with chores, deals with my surgeries and health issues with a hug and its ok mom I understand and appreciates what he has because of my hard work....our hard work. I know I'm leaving out so many awesome things about my Son. As a single Mom trying my damnedest to provide and raise Mark in today's society, I am blessed with an amazingly awesome kid!

 

Mark Luke is proves that while it's important to be a good student, it's even more important to be a good and compassionate person.
