Images of Upstate New York: Ausable Chasm

Ausable Chasm is a spectacular natural phenomenon south of Plattsburgh on US 9.  The deep narrow gorge was formed by the Ausable river as it races towards its outlet at Lake Champlain.  There is a great tourist attraction that allows you to explore the area.  If you want to avoid the tourist spot and just enjoy a quick view, there is a a roadside turnout that will give you the glimpse I have in these photos.
