Interstate 81 is Closed in Cortland County
A portion of Interstate route 81 in Cortland County is closed this evening after a semi truck struck a bridge abutment.
The northbound lanes of I-81 are closed between Cortland and Homer. Traffic is being rerouted on to Route 281. Route 11 would also serve as a bypass to the closure.

There is no set time for the highway to reopen as NYS Department of transportation engineers need to inspect the bridge for structural safety.
