Kim Kardashian may be the woman who attempted to break the internet, but Jennifer Lopez is the one who made it what it is today.

Like all important things, Google Images began with a beautiful woman and a daring dress. Yup, you guessed it: "The dress" in question is the infamous tropical print Versace gown with the scandalously plunging neckline that Lopez wore to the 2000 Grammy Awards,

Eric Schmidt, Executive Chairman of Google, retells the tale (via WENN):

“Our co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin — like all other successful inventors — kept iterating. They started with images. After all, people wanted more than just text. This first became apparent after the 2000 Grammy Awards, where Jennifer Lopez wore a green dress that, well, caught the world’s attention. At the time, it was the most popular search query we had ever seen. But we had no surefire way of getting users exactly what they wanted: JLo wearing that dress. Google Image Search was born,”

So there it is. We have Jennifer Lopez to thank for so many things — shifting societal ideas about what a beautiful body looks like, one of the catchiest song of 2014, and now an easier way to pull up shirtless pictures of Scott Eastwood. Thank you, J. Lo and Google!
