Lady Gaga’s Indonesia Gig Canceled Due to Protesters

More drama surrounds Lady Gaga‘s Born This Way Ball tour in Asia, as her Indonesian gig has been canceled. After dealing with Christian protests and an under-18 ban at the April 27 kick off gig in Seoul, South Korea, the show went on as planned. The same will not be said for her sold-out concert in Jakarta.

The June 3 gig has been canceled after the national police denied the concert permit, seeming to crack under the pressure of Islamic protesters who feel Gaga’s show is too raunchy, that she shows too much skin and that she is a threat to the nation’s morality.

All that, because of a pop show? And no, these fringe groups and protesters are not mad that she wears meat dresses!

The Indonesian gig would have been the biggest on Gaga’s tour, filling 52,000 seats at Gelora Bung Karno, but sadly, it is no longer to be.

SPIN reports that extremist fringe Muslim groups, which are made up of lawmakers and religious leaders, are relentlessly and excessively targeting the show. We reported that a group had planned to intercept Gaga at the airport when she touched down. Now, the group is threatening use “physical force to prevent her from stepping off the plane.” That was enough reason for authorities to give into the pressure to shut the show down, with a spokesperson for the national police admitting that the local squad was not sure it could guarantee Gaga’s safety or that of the Indonesian little monsters.

The status of refunds for those who have purchased tickets to the show is up in the air.

The Mother Monster has yet to tweet about the cancellation, but we’re pretty sure that she will.
