Only a huge star like Lady Gaga can ring in the new year on two different continents. Already scheduled to drop the ball in Times Square this Saturday night, Gaga will also be the only international artist appearing on an annual Japanese New Year’s Eve program.

Billboard reports that Gaga has confirmed a performance on Kohaku Uta Gassen, or the ‘Red and White Singing Contest.’ During Gaga’s recent visit to Japan, broadcaster NHK got the superstar to agree to appear on the show. She’ll be performing remotely from New York City on Saturday morning, since Japan hits New Year’s Day several hours before New York.

Gaga was quoted as saying she is honored to be chosen to appear on the four-hour program, which also includes a singing competition between Japanese performers. Later that night, Gaga will perform again for her U.S. fans on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

Gaga was a big supporter of Japan after the earthquake and tsunami in March. She went ahead with her scheduled concerts in the country and raised money for those affected through the sale of “We Pray for Japan” bracelets. She was also among the international celebrities who visited Japan to encourage tourists to come back to the island nation following the tragedies.
