Shortly after a string of thunderstorms passed though the area on Saturday night, the fire alarm sounded at Dolgeville Central High School.  When volunteer fire fighters arrived at the scene, they found heavy smoke coming from the school's auditorium.

Superintendent Christine Reynolds told the Times-Telegram that the fire company did a great job and knocked down the fire quickly.  She said it was likely a lightning strike followed a phone line and then ignited under the auditorium's stage.

The Dolgeville Central School's Facebook page says the smoke and water damage to the building will not affect the opening of school next month.
