I may live in Central New York now, but I was born and raised in Michigan. That means deep down, I’m rooting for my home team. Unfortunately, that didn’t go so well this Sunday.

Since moving out here, I don’t catch a lot of games (of any kind), but I was lucky enough to watch the Lions play against the Cowboys last night. And… well, it wasn’t the best game to watch.

Pro Football Talk explains the major turning point in the game…

With the Lions leading 20-17 in the fourth quarter, a pass interference call that gave the Lions a first down well into Dallas territory was picked up without explanation by referee Pete Morelli. That turned into a huge benefit for the Cowboys, as the Lions shanked a punt on the next play and the Cowboys took advantage of their good field position to march down the field and score the go-ahead touchdown to take a 24-20 lead.

I’m sure I will get some heat (especially back home) for this one, but I don’t think that call was the reason the Lions lost. Yes, it changed the momentum of the game, but it was still possible for the Lions to win. They just… didn’t.

Oh well, maybe next year Lions… right?!
