As part of a TLC's 'Who Do You Think You Are' program, Liv and Steven Tyler discover previously unknown ties to Upstate NY that date back to the 1800's.

TLC is in the ninth season of 'Who do You ThinkYou Are' and have starred celebrities like Smokey Robinson and John Stamos. The latest episode featured Liv Tyler, and they made some fabulous finds in  Upstate New York.

With the help of local historians, Liv Tyler discovers her great-great-grandfather George Washington Elliot lived in Schuylerville which is part of  Saratoga County and survived the battles of Antietam and Gettysburg in the Civil War. She then learns his father was a part African American drummer throughout the Siege of Plattsburgh during the War of 1812. This connection takes her breath away as her dad, Steven Tyler, started in the music business as a drummer.

You can tell this was a very emotional experience for the Tyler's. They see photos, visit grave sights, and discover all sorts of news about their ancestors right here in Upstate New York. Hmmm, you could say Steven Tylers musical talent started right here.
