It’s the first total lunar eclipse of the year. It can be seen only in North and South American, however NASA will also stream the eclipse live.

Usually you only see two lunar eclipses a year, but tonight’s eclipse kicks off a series of 4 consecutive total eclipses. The next is Oct. 8, 2014, another on April 4, 2015, and another on Sept. 28 2015, according to EarthSky.org.

The lunar eclipse begins at 2AM Eastern. If the weather is good, everyone in North America should be able to see the ‘red moon.’
