Have you ever seen the stage production of "Phantom of the Opera?"  I've seen it four times and loved it each time.  The show first opened twenty three years ago and Andrew Loyd Webber's musical has been watched by millions of people.  But how many theater goers can say they've seen the show 9000 times?

Sylvia Bailey can say that.  She's been an usher at the show on Broadway since it opened in 1988.  According to an article in The New York Post, Sylvia has been handing out playbills for the show at least 9000 times.  She says she loves the song 'Music of the Night" and despite having heard it thousands of times, still finds herself humming it on the bus as she heads to and from work.  Here's the other amazing part.  Sylvia is 86 years old and will be 87  on February 2nd, which is the week before "Phantom" plays its 10,000th performance.   You can probably guess how Sylvia plans to celebrate her 87th birthday.  Handing out playbills, of course!  She usually watches the show from the last row if there are any seats available, but if not, she watches from the back of the orchestra.  Has the show changed over the years?  People ask her that alot.  Sylvia says the show is exactly the same as it was the first day but just different people.  Here's to another 9000 shows Sylvia.
