40,000 Verizon workers from Massachusetts to Virginia have been on strike since April 13th.

Verizon workers from Local CWA 1126 held a rally at the Verizon Wireless Store on Seneca Turnpike in New Hartford on Thursday

Peter Dawes, Executive Vice President of Local 1126. says they want the company to get down to business and come to an agreement on a new contract.

Dawes says one of the major sticking points in the negotiations is Verizon's desire to move 5,000 call center jobs out of the country.  He says there's also talk of Verizon freezing workers' pensions.

Dawes says he's not optimistic that an agreement can be reached soon, but they're ready to sit down anytime Verizon wants to talk..

The two sides have been negotiating a new contract for ten months.
