Man Sings Along To Katy Perry, Not A One Hit Wonder [VIDEO]
Katy Perry’s first major hit was the song “I Kissed a Girl” back in 2008, and when I heard it I thought, looks like another one hit wonder. Three years later, she’s proven she’s a multi-hit wonder, becoming the first woman to score five No. 1 songs from one CD on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Her “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” set the precedent: It’s the latest No. 1 from her platinum album “Teenage Dream.” Only Michael Jackson had five No. 1 songs from one album before Perry, from “Bad.” But Jackson spent a total of seven weeks at the top with his “Bad” songs; Perry has been at the top perch now for a cumulative 18 weeks!
If you’re not listening to Lite 98.7 at 8am when commuting to work, you may have to suffer through this. An unknown individual livened up the morning this week by belting out Perry’s ‘California Gurls’ for all to hear.
The incident occurred on a bus ride in Jersey City, according to the video’s poster, who called it “pretty much the best bus ride ever!” We love the guy’s commitment. And he was listening to the song on a Discman, which means he wasn’t just some fake Perry fan — he probably had the full ‘Teenage Dream’ CD. It’s just too bad the video cuts off before he got to Snoop Dogg‘s rap verse.
We don’t expect to see this gentleman on American Idol or the X Factor anytime soon, but his enthusiastic bus performance is making him an online sensation. This was funny, but we hope it doesn’t give other would-be singers any ideas. I enjoy quiet bus rides, thank you very much!
