Do you know someone who left Utica, vowed to never return again, but moved back years later?  Many twenty and thirty somethings are doing just that, and they're glad they did.

We've all either heard this before or said it ourselves: "I'm leaving Utica, and I'm not coming back." That statement rings true for many, but a lot of us were proved wrong when we eventually found ourselves back in the "Handshake City" According to the Times Telegram:

As this number continues to rise, some believe a higher quality of life and increase in opportunity is the reason behind it.

And with more than 1,500 new jobs expected in Marcy from GE and the Austrian chip fabrication company AMS in the near future, the trend is expected to continue.

Matt Hubbell was one of those individuals who left the area and came back. He lived in Utica from 1997-2005, but moved to California and Tennesee in search of greener pastures and warmer temperatures. It was the cold weather that drove him out, but it was friends, family, a sense of community, and the Chicken Riggies that brought him back.

Have you lived here your entire life? Were you born and raised in Central New York, but left and came back? What is it about Utica that drew you back? A Job? Halfmoon cookies, or the generous people? Share your story on our Facebook page or give us a call 721-0987.
