More lake effect snow is expected to fall across most of Central New York today. We could see up to 12 inches according to the National Weather Service.

LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING

* LOCATIONS...Oneida, Madison and Onondaga Counties

* ACCUMULATIONS...An additional 6 to 12 inches, mainly across northern Onondaga Country, Central to Northern Madison County, Southern Oneida County.

* TIMING...Snow will be heaviest in Syracuse and South of Utica this morning. Snow will shift into the Utica area later this morning before heading north of Syracuse by mid-afternoon. The snow will shift out of Utica and pass through Northern Oneida County mid to late afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous travel with abruptly changing conditions. Poor visibility with drifting snow.

"If you need to travel in these lake effect areas today, use extreme caution while driving," suggests the National Weather Service. "In addition to intense snowfall rates, winds gusting over 30 mph will cause blowing snow and near whiteout conditions at times."
