Family reunions don't get much better than this.

Nearly 50 years after being separated, a mother and her daughter were recently brought back together in Olivette, Mo.

Shortly after Melanie Diane Gilmore was born in St. Louis in 1965, her mother, Zella Jackson Price, now 76, was told her baby had died, even though she was alive. For reasons no one knows, Gilmore was adopted by another family.

Gilmore, who lost her hearing when she was 3, wanted to find her birth parents, so her children helped the cause, doing what they could do track down Price.

Sadly, Gilmore's father has passed away.

Price couldn't be more grateful to reconnect with her long-lost daughter:

(God) has given me everything the devil has taken from me. I’m getting it back. I’m getting my baby back.”

The reunited family says they plan to investigate what happened to cause their separation in the first place.
