Now that winter is officially here, the last thing you’re probably thinking about buying is a new air conditioner.  Might want to re-think that, though.  January is a great time to buy one and that’s not the only thing that is ideal to buy this month.  

Hopefully you still have some spending money left over after the holidays.  According to dailyfinance.com, January is a great time to buy certain items.

Air conditioners: Skip the run on ac’s when the weather heats up.  Now is the time to buy one, when nobody is shopping for them.

Winter coats:  If you don’t mind not having the best selection or pick of sizes, January is the perfect time to get a new winter coat.  Chances are very good you’ll get one on sale.

Carpeting and flooring:  Now that the holidays are over, which is when most people want new carpets and flooring, this is a good time to buy.

Motorcycles:  Buying a previous model year bike in January will save you big time on the bike you’ve had your eye on.

Furniture:  Typically furniture companies unveil new furniture in February, which is why January is the time to buy when they’re trying to make room for the new stuff.

Bicycles:  Getting fit is a common New Year’s resolution and January is the time to buy that bike to get in shape.  The new models will arrive in a few months so bike shops want to clear out their current models.

Bedding and linens:  Can you say white sale?  Be prepared to save big on sheets, towels, pillows and comforters at the best prices of the year.

Homes:  Instead of waiting until spring when everyone is buying, take advantage of the midwinter housing lull now and you could nab a good price on that home you’re hoping for.
