A series of unexplained booms occurred over Western New York State on Saturday near Buffalo. They were reported mainly in the Niagara County seat of Lockport.

At first the booms were attributed to a minor earthquake, but that is now in doubt. Pix11 reports that,

Officials in New York initially attributed the boom to a 1.5 magnitude earthquake near Lockport, N.Y., but WGRZ reports the noises were heard two hours before the micro-earthquake.

The boom was reported in upstate New York around 4:30 p.m. The earthquake was reported two hours later at 6:27 p.m.

Were the Booms Caused by Secret Military Aircraft?

Sonic booms and unexplained sounds are nothing new. Eerie audio pops up online occasionally of odd and unexplained sounds. Some times these are attributed to earthquakes or supersonic aircraft. Other more sensational explanations include a supposed secret underground tunnel network across the United States.

Neither is Upstate New York immune to strange sound phenomenon. There is a well known phenomenon in New York's Finger Lakes known as the Seneca Guns, in which large booms are heard over the lakes.
