If you ever needed a lot of money to go shopping don’t do what this lady did. A woman faked her own kidnapping to see if her husband would pay a $20,000 ransom. She has been arrested after police caught her preparing to spend the money in High Street sales.

Her husband got a photo on his phone showing his wife's bound hands and feet. A separate text message also demanded 20,000 euros for her release as well as a warning not to go to the police.

After placing a tracking device with the money, officers spotted her car, which they followed to a shopping mall in the town of Gandia, on the Spanish Mediterranean coast.

At first, she told officers she had been released by her captors that morning, but later confessed she had staged the abduction 'to find out what her husband would be willing to do for her'.

Bet he will spend that money on a divorce lawyer!
