Savvy shoppers, rejoice. Mega-retailer HomeGoods will be opening in the former Circuit City store at the Sangertown Mall.

The housewares purveyor will occupy 17,000 square feet in the space that has been a temporary home to The Halloween Store and Carbone Autos used car sales since the Circuit City went out of business in 2009. WKTV reports that HomeGoods plans to open their New Hartford store in time for the busy holiday shopping season.

HomeGoods offers a wide range of items for sale, from rugs to stationary, and kitchenware to bedding and furniture. It's the type of store that requires a strategy to conquer effectively and cost-consciously.

The store has even inspired a fandom that includes Christine Lee, the woman behind the Instagram account @homegoodsobsessed, who shares some of her favorite finds as well as secrets for getting the best deals.

Shop in the middle of the day, Tuesday through Fridays. That way you can avoid the crazy weekend crowds and be there while the store is re-stocked.

Buy first, think later. If you even think you might want an item, buy it. You can always return it later, but if you wait to buy, it might be gone.

Another great tip is to "think outside the aisle". For example, if you're looking for wall art, why not check out dishware for a display-worthy platter or the garden section for outdoor art that will cut it indoors?

I don't know about you, but I can't wait for HomeGoods to open right in our backyard.
