Number 2 Pizza Maker In The World Crowned In Syracuse

Central New York pizza is truly some of the best in the world.  Syracuse pizza shop owner John Vigliotti got crowned the Number 2 pizza maker in the world at the International Pizza Expo held this week in Las Vegas. 

If you've ever been to Peppino's Pizzeria on Grant Boulevard in Syracuse, and Peppino's Neapolitan in Armory Square, you'll know why John won. At the pizza expo in Vegas, which is the biggest pizza convention in the world, John grabbed the second place victory in the traditional category.

According to Syracuse.com, It was John's first trip to the expo and the contest:

"There's a lot of great pizza makers here," he said Thursday by phone from Las Vegas. "It's my first time, and a lot of these people come back year after year. Maybe we'll take first place next year."

John's winning pizza is called the PS2. This pizza has two types of pepperoni and two types of sausage. You'll be able to start enjoying this pizza locally come April 1st.
