Talk about being at the right place at the right time. Cullen Malzo is being hailed a hero after pulling two teen girls from a car that crashed into a lake. The 19 year-old was leaving for school when he saw the car flip upside down into Lake Mahopac.

The girls were on their way to eat, going 50 in a 30 MPH zone, when the car spun out of control, landing in the lake. Malzo rushed to crash after calling 911 to help. "I didn't know how to get in. The car was locked and there was so much mud" Malzo told The Journal News.

After realizing a car window was broken, Malzo pulled both girls to safety. "I just reached in and felt her arm. I pulled her out and she was pretty easy to get out but the other one took a little longer because I didn't know where she was."

"We had a group huddle of hugs in the water. It was unbelievable," says Julia Brower, one of the teens Malzo rescued.

Malzo will be honored at an upcoming Carmel Town Board meeting.
