Right before midnight on New Year’s eve most people are watching the ball drop, spending time with friends and family, or sleeping. I guess that isn’t always the case here in Utica. Police are investigating an incident that happened early Sunday morning in South Utica involving an off-duty State Trooper and a possible burglary in progress.

According to WIBX, Police were called to a home on Beverly Place at around midnight New Year’s Eve for a report of a possible burglary where they found two injured men. Police say one of the men was the homeowner, the other an off-duty trooper. Both men were treated at the hospital for various injuries. There are no charges at this time, and Utica Police have not released the name of the trooper.

Now there isn’t enough evidence yet to say the trooper was part of the burglary, but if in fact he was, it’s a little screwed up right?
