Kaitlin Nootbaar got quite the shock when she went to pick up her diploma following her high school graduation speech when they refused to give it to her on the grounds that she cursed during her graduation speech. Here’s what was said:

According to her father, Kaitlin’s quote was, “‘When she first started school she wanted to be a nurse, then a veterinarian and now that she was getting closer to graduation, people would ask her, what do you want to do and she said ‘How the hell do I know? I’ve changed my mind so many times,’” he said.

Now apparently she was referencing a quote verbatim from the Twilight Movie Saga where a girl who was graduating said the same thing in the same context in her speech too, but school officials skin got hot and not the way Robert Pattison’s skin glowed in those movies. Here’s the clip she was copying:

Now granted, when she handed in her speech script for approval beforehand, the word was substituted with a lesser word heck, but then she just decided to change it on the fly. Now whether or not you find her comment offensive, do you think this is grounds for having the diploma of a straight A student withheld? Interestingly enough, she’s still attending college on a full scholarship this fall, so apparently the college is staying out of the tiff.

She was interviewed on NBC’s Today Show just this morning and here’s the footage, just a couple of hours old:
