One Direction have taken over the world, and with their mounting popularity comes excessive cell phone bills. That’s right, the boys reportedly racked up $22,000 worth of charges on their recent world tour.

Their high voice and data usage shouldn’t come as such a surprise. After all, there are five members of the British boy band, and they like to tweet — a lot. However, One Direction’s handlers weren’t as understanding.

According to the Daily Mirror, a source said, “In the end they got called in for a meeting and given a lecture on finances, and how to handle their money. It is vital wealth does not go to their heads. Their bills got signed off and the boys will not be making the same mistake again.”

The slap on the wrist will hopefully hit home, as the boys will be in roaming territory for a while. One Direction just embarked on the U.S. leg of their North American run, which wraps on June 30 in Orlando, Fla. That’s another five weeks away from the U.K.! WiFi, guys. Get into it.

Although they received a little scolding, the group has plenty to look forward to. In addition to their U.S. tour, the guys are celebrating the release on their new book, ‘Dare To Dream – Life As One Direction,’ which hit bookshelves today.
