A growing trend for police departments to provide Safe Online Transaction Zones has hit Central New York with one established at the Rome Police Department.

The idea is pretty simple. You've made a deal to buy or sell something on a website like Craigslist or a Facebook group. Now where do you meet to complete the transaction? Rome Police have made that decision easy, it's in the lobby of the police station. So there's no worry about meeting a stranger and having money involved.

Look for the sign below which appears in the lobby of the Rome PD off of North James Street.
