Here at our stations, we can't thank out veteran's and active military enough for their service. The thought of stealing from a veteran is something that would never cross my mind in a billion years. Unfortunately here close to home, one Oswego couple is accused of just that.

WKTV reports that David Tetro Jr. and Morgan Tetro, both of Minetto, are charged with grand larceny and welfare fraud. According to officials, the two stole money from 84 year old retired Col. Irene Dennison, who served nearly 25 years in the Air Force and actually helped negotiate the release of Sen. John McCain when he was a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

Authorities say Dennison rented a home to David Tetro several years ago and came to trust him and his wife. The defendants eventually became her primary care providers and had control over her affairs, including power of attorney for almost three years. The couple allegedly spent $200,000 of Dennison's money, including more than $140,000 in losses at Turning Stone. The couple is accused of spending several thousand more on casino-related travel expenses, purchases on iTunes, eBay and Facebook and shopping at Victoria's Secret.

If convicted, the couple could face up to 20 years each in prison.
