Nancy Howard of Oswego is set for life after winning the top prizes on New York Lottery's scratch-off game. The newly retired SUNY Oswego cook says the win is a long time in the making. “I’ve played the Set For Life game since it came out and the most I won in the past was $500. When I saw the word ‘LIFE’ under my matching number I almost fainted,” she said.

Howard purchased her life changing ticket at Kinney Drugs in Oswego and had to have a friend confirm what she was seeing. “I stopped to pick up a few things on my way home from work and decided to buy my ticket. I brought it to my friend’s house to see if she saw what I was seeing. She’s the one that convinced me that I really did win.”

Howard chose the one lump sum of more than $4 million before taxes. Her final check will be a little over $2.7 million.

What does Howard plan to do with her windfall? "Investments and home improvements to start. Then we hope to take a trip to visit our son in Oregon,” she said.
