Remember when you were a kid and you bought a little gift at Christmas for your teacher? It was just a little something to say thanks for being my teacher and Merry Christmas. Those days are gone. Little gifts are no longer in.
Parents are shelling out big bucks for teacher gifts this year. Gone are the days of a card with a little bag of candy or a cute ornament. It’s become a competition to see who can out spend the other parents and give the biggest, most expensve gift. Some parents are buying designer coats, dresses and handbags, cashmere cardigans, watches, perfume, crystal and watches. None of those are cheap, and even if they have more than one child in school, they’re still getting expensive gifts for each child’s teacher, sometime spending around four hundred dollars.
