Packers Tie Gets Guy Fired
We’ve all heard about people who really, really love sports team. Well, apparently a guy in Chicago loves his Green Bay Packers so much, he was willing to lose his job!
It happened after last Sundays game, when the Packers beat the Bears. John Stone works as a car salesman and wore the Packers tie on Monday in honor of his grandmother, who was a big Packers fan. When his boss asked him to take off the tie, he refused. After being asked three times to remove the tie and refusing each time, John was fired. His boss, Jerry Roberts, said “If he loves the tie more than his job, he’s welcome to wear it elsewhere.” Roberts said he’d already shelled out about twenty thousand bucks on Bears adverstising during the season and thought John was being disrespectful by wearing the Packers tie. As for John, he says he wasn’t aware of the adverstising, he still is confused why he was fired over a tie, he’s interviewing for a job with a different car dealership and yes, he’s still a Packers fan. What do you think? Was the boss right to fire him?
