In an ongoing trend across New York State, another small village has voted to dissolve. This time it's Port Henry in Essex County.

According to the Plattsburgh Press Republican, the Adirondack Park village decided,

190 "yes" to 171 "no" to end their municipal government.

Turnout was strong. Long lines stretched into the Port Henry firehouse, as 361 out of 596 registered village residents showed up.

Dissolution means village assets and properties, along with some of its responsibilities, will be turned over to the Town of Moriah.

In Oneida County the village of Bridgewater dissolved at the end of 2014 while Prospect will cease being a village on December 31, 2015.
