Post Holiday Blues and Winter Blahs? How To Beat Them

Seems like Christmas was weeks ago. Seeing Christmas trees out by the curb this week signals the holidays are over and it’s on to business as usual. The cold temps have settled in too, which means many of us aren’t spending much time outdoors. For some, all of this can lead to winter blahs and post holiday blues.
The holidays can be a wonderful time, filled with family and friends. They also can bring plenty of stress, such as financial worries, feeling overwhelmed, stressed out, exhausted and missing far away friends and family. When the holidays are over, the stress doesn’t always end. The post-holiday let down kicks in after New Year’s Eve. All that hustle and bustle and now it’s gone until next Christmas. If you’re feeling the post holiday blues, try these tips from Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield.
1. Try to maintain a regular schedule of eating, sleeping and exercising
2. Get enough sleep
3. Take a walk
4. Manage your commitments and priorities
Sometimes the blahs last longer than a couple of weeks. If you’re feeling depressed or so stressed that it’s effecting your day to day activities, talk to your doctor and get some help.
