There’s a FaceTime Bug That Could Allow People to Hear Your Private Conversations

There's a lot of people worried about technology "spying" on them - Like when specific ads show up on Facebook when you were JUST talking to your friend or a coworker about a certain item or product, or I've heard people worried that "Alexa" may always be listening to your conversations. Whether you think these are just conspiracy theories or you think there may be a little truth to it, there is a bug that makes it possible for people to listen in through your phone - Even if you don't answer the phone!
It's a bug through FaceTime that was just discovered yesterday (Monday, January 29th). According to Click On Detroit,
When the bug is activated, the person who initiated the call is able to hear the live audio on the other person's phone, even though the recipient has not accepted the call. And their screen gives no indication that their conversation is being transmitted. In some cases, the bug can also show live video of the other person if they press a volume button to dismiss the call.
So what can you do to protect yourself?
Well, Click On Detroit says Apple is aware of the problem and is working on a software update that will fix it. The update is expected to be available later this week. In the meantime, you can disable FaceTime on your phone (if you're worried about it). To disable FaceTime, just go into "Settings" on your phone, click on "Facetime," and swipe the switch to turn it from green to gray. And that's it! You're set.
But this is a constant reminder: With all the technology we have available, with everyone with phones, cameras, and everything else, you should always keep in mind what you say and what you do. Just assume everyone is watching you - You may end up a meme online or your boss may hear you venting, even though you didn't answer their call. It's scary, but it's possible.
