In one aspect, the winter of 2015 is the coldest on record. The National Weather Service office in Binghamton says a record has been broken in Syracuse for the most days below zero in one calendar year.

On February 24, 2015, morning low temperatures were below zero in Syracuse marking the 20th day in a calendar year that lows were below zero. The previous record was 19 days set back in 1948. With more cold in the forecast and more winter to come, it seems likely that this record can only grow.
