Whitney Houston would've been 47 today.  It seems like just yesterday she was at the top of her game, with her songs being played all over radio as they climbed the charts.  She truly was a superstar.

Despite all the drama and trouble in her personal life, Whitney was an extremely successful singer.  During her almost thirty year music career, she won 30 Billboard Music Awards, 6 Grammys, 2 Emmy awards and 22 American Music Awards.  She sold 200 million albums worldwide and her album called 'Whitney' was the first female album to debut at number one on the Billboard charts.  So far, she's the most awarded female artist in music history, which is an amazing achievement.  She lives on not just in her music but film too.  Whitney stars alongside Jordin Sparks in the remake of  'Sparkle,' which arrives in theaters on August 17th.
