This Christmas classic hit the big screen back in 1944. According to the video, this special was shown endlessly on TV during the 1950s and early '60s:

The special starts off like the one we've grown to love, everyone picks on Rudolph. The audio is a little odd on the video, it sounds a little tin sounding. The ending however, its a little creepy so heads up.

Johnny Marks wrote the famous Rudolph tune we know today. It was first recorded by cowboy star Gene Autry back in 1949. The recording sold over two million copies that year. The most familiar of Rudolph's media adaptations.
